Bedloft.com was born from the belief that student housing has the potential to make or break the college experience and a desire to see the bar raised.
Ryan Majeres, President/Owner, began his housing career first as a customer. After a frustrating experience with a fridge rental company, Ryan became the President of RHA at the University of Illinois and made it a priority to re-examine the school’s rental program and partner with a more responsible company.
This became the philosophy that is the cornerstone of Bedloft.com: see a need and adapt to fix it. After graduating, Ryan worked in the collegiate fridge and amenity space for several years before acquiring College Services, Inc in 2004. Re-branding to Bedloft.com to be more accessible to students and parents, the company exploded becoming a leader and innovator in the loft rental business. Partnering now with 70+ universities and colleges across the United States, Bedloft.com continues to grow.
In 2016, the company saw the increasing need for micro-appliances in collegiate residence housing, and moved back into the fridge rental market. We launched MyCollegeFridge.com to create a smoother experience for students and parents, and gained exclusive distributor rights for EcoMAX™ products. After diving into the fridge business more heavily, the company saw a trend in the market that would require a program that saved students and parents, as well as the campus – time, money, and hassle.
This new venture was the starting point for the MAXlease™ program, a program designed to fit any school, any location, and any budget. EcoMAX™ and MAXlease™ was quickly adopted into the market and meets the needs of many campuses and enhances the student experience across the United States.
Ryan founded EcoMAX™ in 2016 to provide quality, affordable compact appliance products to the higher education housing community. He is also the owner of Bedloft.com (rental of bed lofts and compact appliances to college students) and Gameday Spirit (retailer of collegiate licensed apparel). Ryan has 30+ years of experience in and around campus housing in a variety of roles.
Jon Helm, from St. Cloud, Minnesota, joined our team in 2018. Jon was the Area Manager of Minnesota from July 2018 – July 2022 and has recently transitioned into our Director of Relations. He is married with four children, and enjoys boating on Minnesota lakes and working on home improvement projects.
Scott joined EcoMAX™ in June of 2022, after serving Residence Life and Housing for over 25 years with another industry-leading organization. Scott is based in Central New Jersey, and is our representative in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, as well as working with specific clients across the country.
Shelby joined EcoMAX™ in April of 2016 and serves on the Account Management and Marketing teams. Shelby is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, covering the Southeast territory, along with various accounts across the US. She also manages marketing efforts with our current partner schools.
Steve has worked over 15 years with our parent company helping schools and students as a member of our operations team. Steve is based out of our home office in Champaign, Illinois, and is our VP of Operations that oversees product development and logistics.
